Coldoch Broch, Iron Age broch in Stirling, Scotland

The stone structure features three rectangular chambers within its walls, with a maximum internal diameter of 8.8 meters and a height of 2.4 meters.

The archaeological site, cleared before 1870, represents a sophisticated architectural achievement from the Iron Age period when circular fortified towers dominated Scottish landscapes.

The broch design demonstrates the advanced building methods of ancient Scottish societies, incorporating defensive features and living spaces within thick stone walls.

Located 4.5 kilometers southwest of Doune, the site maintains its original entrance passage on the east side, stretching 5.8 meters in length.

The structure stands on elevated ground next to what was previously an extensive marsh in the Forth Valley, providing strategic advantages for its inhabitants.
