St Clement's, King Square, Grade II listed church in King Square, Finsbury, England
St Clement's is a Grade II listed church located at the edge of King Square with a slender spire and neoclassical design featuring Greek Ionic elements. Today the building contains residential apartments while its exterior architectural features remain intact as required by its protected status.
The building was completed in 1824 as a religious center for the neighborhood and remained in use for several decades. Following bomb damage during World War II, it underwent reconstruction with a new interior design completed in the 1950s.
A war memorial inside displays the names of local soldiers who served in World War I, preserving the memory of those from the community. This serves as a gathering point for remembrance and reflects how the building remains connected to local history.
The interior is not open to the public as the building now functions as private residential apartments. The exterior can be viewed from King Square where the architectural details and spire are clearly visible.
The organ inside originally came from another church and was relocated here during the 1950s reconstruction. This makes it a surviving piece of musical and architectural heritage from an earlier time.
