Stratford Town Hall, Grade II listed municipal building in Stratford, London Borough of Newham, England.
Stratford Town Hall is a Victorian building with an asymmetrical main facade along Broadway that spans eleven sections. A square tower topped with a cupola crowns the structure and shapes how the whole area looks.
The building was constructed in 1869 by architects Lewis Angell and John Giles to house the growing municipal needs. After a fire in 1982, it underwent major restoration work and reopened in 1986.
Inside the building you can see the council chamber and assembly hall with their decorated interiors. These spaces reflect the careful attention paid to design when the building was first created.
The building sits on Broadway and is easy to spot from the surrounding area. Today it functions as a venue for events and community meetings and can be visited during regular opening hours.
When completed in 1869, the building was praised by the Illustrated London News as one of the finest structures in the region. This early recognition shows how much it impressed people when it first opened.
