Bangor City Forest, Public forest in Bangor, Maine, United States.

Bangor City Forest is a 680-acre woodland area with gravel roads and narrower trails weaving through the landscape. These paths take you through different terrain and offer year-round opportunities for walking and watching wildlife.

This forest site grew from the transformation of a former town dump, which has been reshaped into a winter sledding hill. That change shows how places can be remade to serve the community in new ways.

Maine Master Naturalist Clare Cole documents natural observations within the forest, contributing to scientific understanding of local flora and fauna patterns.

The forest is well set up for visitors with clear, wide paths that are easy to walk on and additional narrower trails for those wanting to venture further. Layered clothing is a good idea since conditions vary depending on the season and which path you choose.

The forest connects seamlessly with the neighboring Walden-Parke Preserve, creating one continuous natural area together. This link allows visitors to walk between the two protected areas and explore one very large connected space for wildlife and outdoor activities.
