Esther Mountain, Mountain summit in Adirondacks, New York, US
Located in Wilmington Wild Forest, Esther Mountain reaches an elevation of 4,240 feet and stands as the northernmost peak of the Adirondack High Peaks.
The mountain received its name in recognition of Esther McComb, who completed the first documented ascent of the summit in 1839 at fifteen years old.
The Adirondack Forty-Sixers installed a commemorative tablet at the summit in 1939, marking it as the only High Peak named after a woman until 2014.
The summit connects to the Wilmington Trail at 3.4 miles from the trailhead, with an additional 1.2 miles required to reach the mountain peak.
The mountain experiences substantial temperature variations throughout the year, from 19°F in January to nearly 70°F during July months.
