Fountainhead Regional Park, Regional park in Fairfax Station, United States
Fountainhead Regional Park is a forested regional park in Virginia, along the shore of the Occoquan Reservoir. It offers an extensive network of hiking and mountain biking trails, along with fishing spots and boat access to the water.
The park was established as part of Northern Virginia's effort to protect natural land around the Occoquan Reservoir as development spread across the region. Over the decades, its trail network and facilities grew steadily to meet increasing demand for outdoor recreation.
The park is popular with mountain biking groups from across the region, who gather regularly to ride and help maintain the trails. This active community has shaped the trail network over the years and continues to bring riders of different skill levels together.
The park is generally open from March through November, with hours that vary depending on the season. Sturdy footwear is recommended for both the hiking and biking trails, especially after rain when the ground can become slippery.
The park sits at the southern end of the Bull Run-Occoquan Trail, a long-distance route that links two river systems across the region. Bald eagles nest regularly along the reservoir shoreline and can often be spotted from the water or the trails nearby.
