Hemlock Overlook Regional Park

Hemlock Overlook Regional Park is a 400-acre nature preserve along Bull Run featuring ancient eastern hemlock trees mixed with sycamores and tulip poplars throughout. The landscape includes steep slopes descending to the water with distinct forest zones created by the varied elevation and tree species present.

The forest contains eastern hemlocks over 250 years old that have witnessed centuries of change in this region. These ancient trees have shaped the woodland ecosystem and its current character through their long presence along Bull Run.

The park serves as a place where people connect with old forest ecosystems and learn about conservation through direct experience. Local visitors appreciate this space as a refuge to understand how ancient trees shape their environment.
