Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo, Amusement park and zoo in Angola, Indiana.
Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo was an amusement park with a zoo section located near Angola in northeast Indiana, offering rides, water slides, arcade games, shops, and food areas. The grounds were large enough to keep visitors busy for a full day.
The park opened in 1956, during a period when regional amusement spots were growing across Indiana, and it stayed open for over 50 years before closing in 2008. During that time, it went through several changes in ownership and attractions while remaining a familiar landmark in the area.
For families across northeast Indiana, the park was the go-to place for weekend outings and school holiday trips over many decades. The mix of rides and animals gave it a place in local life that few other destinations in the region could offer.
The park is no longer in operation and should not be planned as an active destination. The former site sits near Interstate 69 at Exit 150, but there is nothing left to visit on the grounds today.
The park's Afterburner roller coaster was an early prototype model with a loop feature that had previously operated at a park in Florida. For a number of years, it was the only looping coaster in the entire state of Indiana.
