Glastenbury Wilderness, Federal wilderness area in Green Mountain National Forest, Vermont.

Glastenbury Wilderness spans 22,330 acres of dense forests, steep slopes, rocky outcrops, streams, and ponds in northeastern Bennington county.

The New England Wilderness Act of 2006 established this protected area as the second largest wilderness space in Vermont after Breadloaf Wilderness.

The Long Trail and Appalachian Trail cross through the wilderness, connecting hikers to a network of paths including Bald Mountain and West Ridge trails.

Visitors access the wilderness through Bennington, with designated camping areas and multiple trailheads leading to elevations reaching 3,748 feet at Glastenbury Mountain.

Multiple unexplained disappearances in this remote area contributed to the formation of the Vermont State Police and generated numerous local legends.
