George and Mary Pine Smith House, Historic house in Canton Township, Michigan.

The George and Mary Pine Smith House stands on Sheldon Road, featuring a two-story gabled structure with decorative millwork and transomed windows throughout the building.

William Smith purchased 160 acres of farmland in the 1830s, establishing a family legacy that continued when George Jr. and Mary Pine Smith built this house in 1904.

The residence represents early 20th-century architectural design in Michigan, with handmade bricks created on-site and a distinctive fieldstone foundation laid in courses.

The property maintains its original features, including a bay window, stained glass elements, and segmental arches made from corbelled bricks across different elevations.

The construction cost of $2,058.76 in 1904 resulted in a house with two-foot-thick foundation walls and multiple decorative transom windows featuring beveled glass details.
