History
Settlement of Canton Township began in 1825 when Philander and Samuel Burd filed their initial land claims and established the foundations of the community. The houses in this collection were built over the following decades and reflect the growth of the settlement.

The Planning Commission reviews development proposals, makes recommendations to the Township Board, and maintains records following Michigan Open Meetings Act regulations.
