Goddard Rocket Launching Site, Rocket launch site in Auburn, Massachusetts, United States.

The Goddard Rocket Launching Site features an obelisk marker on the Pakachoag Golf Course, marking the location of the first liquid-fueled rocket launch in history.

On March 16, 1926, Dr. Robert H. Goddard successfully launched a 10-foot cylinder rocket that reached 41 feet in altitude and flew for two-and-a-half seconds.

The site represents a key milestone in aerospace development, leading to advances that influenced modern space exploration and military rocket technology.

Visitors can find two markers at the site: an obelisk 1000 feet southeast of Upland Street and a rectangular marker in the northwest corner of the golf course.

The final rocket launch from this location in 1929 carried scientific instruments including an aneroid barometer, thermometer, and camera triggered by parachute deployment.
