Hara Arena, Multi-purpose arena in Trotwood, United States
Hara Arena was a multi-purpose building in Trotwood, Ohio, housing a main arena, four exhibition halls, and a conference center all under one roof. This layout allowed the space to host different types of events either simultaneously or in succession.
The site opened in 1964, emerging from the transformation of an earlier ball arena that Harold and Ralph Wampler had built on their former fruit orchard. The founders originally wanted to create an events venue that would draw local and regional attractions.
The venue hosted numerous concerts featuring performers like the Rolling Stones, Elton John, and The Grateful Dead throughout its operational years.
The venue held around 5,500 people and served as home to multiple sports teams, including the Dayton Gems hockey team. Different sections could be used flexibly depending on the type of event being held.
The name came from combining the first letters of both founders: H from Harold and A from Ralph Wampler. The building was originally designed to host Shrine Circus performances.
