Dayton Art Institute, Art museum in Dayton, United States

The Dayton Art Institute spans 35,000 square feet of exhibition space in a Renaissance-style building situated on a hill above downtown Dayton.

Julia Shaw Patterson Carnell funded the construction of the museum building in 1928 with a pledge of 2 million dollars for a new cultural center.

The museum collection contains over 27,000 objects spanning 5,000 years, including works by Monet, Picasso, Warhol, and regional American artists.

Located at Forest and Riverview Avenues, the museum offers guided tours, educational programs, workshops, and special exhibitions throughout the year.

The building design draws inspiration from two Italian Renaissance palazzos: the Villa d'Este near Rome and the Villa Farnese at Caprarola.
