Dayton Arcade, complex of historic buildings in Dayton, Ohio

Dayton Arcade is a mixed-use building in downtown Dayton, Ohio, that combines retail spaces and apartments within a single structure. The design draws from Renaissance Revival, Mediterranean Revival, and Dutch Colonial Revival architecture, and the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The building was constructed in the early 20th century as a mixed-use project that combined shopping and living spaces, which was unusual at the time. After decades of decline, it was eventually restored and returned to active use in the city center.

The Arcade was for decades a gathering place where locals could shop and socialize under one roof in the heart of downtown. Today visitors come to walk through its interior and take in the mix of European-inspired architectural styles drawn from different traditions.

The Arcade sits in downtown Dayton and fits naturally into a walk through the city center. Visiting during the day gives you the best light to take in the architectural details of both the exterior and the interior common areas.

The building brings together three separate European architectural styles from different periods under one roof, which is rare for a single American city building. This was a deliberate choice made to appeal to a wide range of shoppers and residents at the same time.
