Idora Park

Idora Park was an amusement park in Youngstown that occupied grounds with multiple rides and attractions spread across the area. The centerpiece was a wooden roller coaster called Wild Cat that towered over the park.

A trolley company established the site in 1899 as Terminal Park at the end of their rail line, and it was later renamed. Over time, the location expanded and became a significant recreation destination for the Youngstown area.

The ballroom at this park was a gathering place where visitors came to hear live music and dance throughout much of the 20th century. It attracted crowds looking for entertainment and social connection during its decades of operation.

Getting to the park was convenient thanks to the trolley service that ran from downtown Youngstown to the site. The ride to the grounds was an affordable way to reach the main entrance.

The park contained a rare saltwater swimming pool fed directly from an underground natural spring beneath the grounds. This pool was the only one of its kind in the entire country, making it a remarkable feature for swimmers.
