Covelli Centre, Multi-purpose arena in Youngstown, United States
The Covelli Centre is a multi-purpose arena in Youngstown that adjusts its capacity depending on the event type. The facility features different seating configurations for basketball, ice hockey, and concert performances.
Construction of the arena began in June 2004 with support from a HUD redevelopment grant and opened its doors on October 19, 2005. The facility quickly became a cultural hub for the city.
The venue is home to the Youngstown Phantoms hockey team and hosts various entertainment events throughout the year. Visitors experience a community gathered around local sports and cultural programs.
The location offers parking spaces in the downtown area near the venue, which makes visiting easier. Visitors should arrive early, especially during popular events, to secure good parking and have time to explore the surrounding area.
In 2020, the arena transformed into a field hospital to support medical operations and assist the community during a crisis. This role demonstrated how the facility could serve the city beyond its function as an entertainment venue.
