Mill Creek Park

Mill Creek Park is a large protected natural area in Youngstown with gardens, waterfalls, lakes, and natural spaces connected by scenic drives and hiking trails. The park also includes two championship golf courses and facilities for boating and fishing.

Volney Rogers established this park district in 1891 as the first of its kind in Ohio. The creation protected the land from industrial development during Youngstown's rapid expansion.

The Fellows Riverside Gardens section in the north displays twelve acres with diverse plant collections and seasonal exhibitions. Visitors can explore different botanical landscapes throughout the year.

The area offers several walking and driving routes for different fitness levels, from short walks to longer excursions. Spring and fall are ideal times to visit when weather is mild and the landscape looks its best.

Lanterman's Mill, built in 1845, still operates as a working mill grinding corn, wheat, and buckwheat using methods from the 1800s. This functioning historic mill shows how grain was processed in earlier times.
