Hueston Woods State Park

Hueston Woods State Park is a 3,000-acre protected area surrounding Acton Lake, with thick forests, hiking trails, and diverse wildlife throughout. The grounds also feature a golf course and several lodging options for overnight stays.

This protected area was established in 1957 to preserve natural habitats and rock formations found in southwestern Ohio. Its creation was part of efforts to safeguard regional landscapes for the future.

The Nature Center teaches visitors about wildlife that calls the forest home, including birds of prey, owls, and reptiles found throughout the grounds. These educational programs help people connect with and understand the local environment.

Visitors can stay in lodge rooms, camping sites, or cabins and then pursue boating, fishing, or hiking on the available trails. The site has sufficient facilities to serve both day visitors and those staying overnight.

The park hosts artists through a residency program who teach visitors how to create mosaic artwork in this natural setting. This program brings creative expression and nature together in an unusual way.
