India Point Park

India Point Park is a protected area along Providence Harbor and the Seekonk River featuring walking paths and green spaces throughout its waterfront location. The park's layout follows the water's edge with open areas for pedestrians to explore.

The site became Providence's first harbor in 1680 and functioned as a major trading hub for 250 years. Commerce with the East and West Indies flowed through this waterfront location throughout that period.

The park serves as the setting for Providence's Fourth of July fireworks and summer festivals that draw crowds throughout the year. These gatherings have become central to how the community celebrates together.

The park entrance is on India Street with nearby parking, and RIPTA bus line 92 serves the area. Wear comfortable shoes since the waterfront paths are longer than they initially appear.

Wooden pilings jut from the water marking the locations of former warehouses from the shipping era. These remnants quietly show where activity once flourished along the harbor.
