Jewish Center of the Hamptons

The Jewish Center of the Hamptons is a modernist synagogue in East Hampton designed with distinctive cedar shingles covering its exterior walls. Inside, skylights flood the sanctuary with natural light, illuminating the curved forms and wooden interior that define the worship space.

The congregation was founded in 1959 by a small group of families meeting in homes before growing large enough to need a dedicated building. The structure completed in 1970 represented a major milestone in establishing a permanent home for the expanding community.
