James Dwight Dana House, Historic residence on Hillhouse Avenue in New Haven, United States.

The three-section painted brick building features a low-pitch hip roof, wide eaves, and a single-story porch supported by turned posts.

Henry Austin designed this Italianate residence in 1849 for Yale professor James Dwight Dana, who made substantial contributions to geology and mineralogy studies.

The house represents mid-nineteenth century academic architecture, reflecting the growing influence of scientific education at Yale University during that period.

The Department of Statistics and Data Science at Yale University currently occupies this building, which underwent renovations in 1996.

The interior maintains original elements such as colored marble fireplaces, silver doorknobs, and distinctive wooden floor patterns throughout its rooms.
