Edward P. Evans Hall, Educational building in New Haven, United States.
Edward P. Evans Hall is a modern educational facility for the Yale School of Management organized around a central courtyard with sixteen classrooms. Its four floors contain lecture halls, meeting spaces, and common areas designed to support different teaching approaches and student interaction through glass facades that bring natural light deep into the building.
Foster and Partners completed the building in 2014 as the Yale School of Management relocated to this new facility. The project represented a significant expansion of the school's academic campus presence on the university grounds.
Art installations by Sol LeWitt and Adrian Schiess are integrated throughout the spaces, offering students and visitors visual elements to encounter while moving through the building. These works add layers of contemporary expression to the educational setting.
The building is accessible to visitors attending classes or events, and its open layout makes navigation straightforward through central gathering spaces. The ground floor with coffee facilities and common areas serves as a clear reference point for orientation within the structure.
A second-floor circulation path called the cloister connects different spaces through an unexpected upper-level route that bypasses ground-floor movement. This design feature creates an alternative way to navigate the building that many first-time visitors do not immediately notice.
