Juniper Valley Park, Public park in Middle Village, Queens, US

Juniper Valley Park is a spacious recreation area featuring seven baseball diamonds, tennis courts, playgrounds, and a quarter-mile running track encircling a football field. Basketball and handball courts spread throughout the grounds alongside open green spaces and natural areas.

The land started as a glacial swamp before becoming farmland in the 1800s and was later converted to public recreation space when New York City acquired it during the 1930s. This transformation created the active recreation area that exists today.

The park serves as a gathering place where Middle Village residents connect through sports leagues and community events that happen throughout the year. You will notice families and neighborhood groups using the fields and open spaces for activities that build local ties.

The park is easy to navigate with clearly defined zones for different sports and activities, helping visitors locate their preferred facilities without difficulty. Wide pathways and spacious green areas make it accessible for people with varying mobility needs.

The park grounds contain one of New York City's rare surviving farm burial grounds, established in 1846 by Thomas Pullis. This historic cemetery is a remnant from the neighborhood's agricultural past that few visitors notice.
