Kingwood Center

Kingwood Center is a botanical garden covering 47 acres with formal gardens, display greenhouses, and woodland trails throughout the grounds. A historic mansion from the 1920s sits at the heart of the property and displays the architectural style of that era.

Charles Kelley King, an industrial businessman, established this property in 1926 as his private residence. Following his death in 1952, the estate was opened to the public and transformed into a botanical garden.

The gardens host workshops and seasonal events that introduce visitors to horticultural practices and conservation. These programs draw people interested in learning how plants grow and how to care for natural spaces.

The entrance is located on North Trimble Road with ample parking available and wheelchair rentals for improved mobility. Visitors can also access the nearby B&O Bike Trail from April through October.

Freely roaming peacocks wander the grounds throughout the year, bringing color and movement to the landscape. These birds have become a signature feature of the place and often surprise visitors as they walk the paths.
