Kodak Tower, Corporate skyscraper in High Falls District, Rochester, United States
Kodak Tower is a skyscraper in Rochester's High Falls District designed in French Renaissance style. The building has 19 floors and rises with a distinctive spire topped by an antenna.
The tower was built in 1914 as the headquarters for Eastman Kodak and was Rochester's tallest building for decades. In the 1960s, Xerox Square Tower eventually surpassed its height.
The tower represents Kodak's central role in photography and displays illuminated letters on its facades that could be seen from far away. These letters made the building a symbol of the city and its industrial past.
The building is located on State Street and can be viewed from outside to appreciate its architecture and signage. You can best see the facade and spire from various points in the High Falls District.
Since 1994, a peregrine falcon nest box has occupied the tower's spire and is monitored by webcams. This nesting platform helps protect and document the falcon population in the region.
