Bevier Memorial Building
Bevier Memorial Building, School building in Rochester, United States
The Bevier Memorial Building stands as a four-story brick structure with ceramic trim at 42 South Washington Street in Rochester's Cascade District.
Susan Bevier, widow of brewer Henry H. Bevier, provided 275,000 dollars in her will for the construction of this building, completed in 1910.
The building served as the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute School of Applied Arts, which later evolved into Rochester Institute of Technology.
The structure now houses fifteen residential apartments and 5,000 square feet of commercial space, with amenities including off-street parking and bike storage.
Architect Claude Fayette Bragdon incorporated Arts and Crafts movement principles into the design, earning National Register status in 1973.
