The temple features seven lodge rooms, each decorated with detailed Norman architectural elements and constructed with Cape Ann Syenite stone from Upper Egypt.
Construction of the Masonic Temple started on June 24, 1868, with a ten-ton granite cornerstone leveled using George Washington's gavel from the Capitol building.
The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania maintains a Masonic Library and Museum within the temple, preserving documents and artifacts from the 1700s to present day.
Located at 1 North Broad Street, the temple offers guided tours that showcase the building's architecture, lodge rooms, and historical exhibits throughout the week.
The temple's interior design, completed in 1902 by George Herzog, incorporates different architectural styles in each lodge room, from Egyptian to Renaissance motifs.
