Meadow Brook Hall, Tudor revival mansion in Rochester Hills, Michigan, US.
Meadow Brook Hall is a Tudor Revival mansion in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The building covers roughly 8,200 square meters (about 88,000 square feet) and contains 110 rooms fitted with stone walls, carved wood paneling, and molded plaster ceilings.
Matilda Dodge Wilson, heiress to the Dodge automobile fortune, commissioned the construction between 1926 and 1929 at a cost of four million dollars. The family lived in the residence for four decades before it was converted into a museum.
The estate takes its name from the meadows and brooks that once shaped the surrounding land and remain visible in parts of the grounds today. Inside, visitors can see furniture and artworks from the early 20th century that reflect the tastes of wealthy American families during that era.
Guided tours are available and showcase the architecture and interior design from the early 20th century. The estate also hosts private events and serves as a museum of American design from that period.
The grounds include Knole Cottage, a child-sized playhouse built for Frances Dodge. The small building features fully working miniature household fittings, including a tiny kitchen and bathroom.
