North Point Park, conservation area
North Point Park is a protected area in Michigan located along the shore of Lake Michigan, covering about 17 acres (6.9 hectares). The landscape features maple and beech forests, open spaces, a sandy beach about 330 feet (100 meters) long, and trails that wind through wetlands and alongside the water.
The land was originally used by local communities for fishing and farming before conservation measures were put in place to preserve it. A conservation agreement on the property prevents development and ensures the natural character of the area for future generations.
North Point Park serves as a retreat where visitors come to walk, watch birds, and photograph the changing seasons. The quiet trails and open spaces reflect how the area functions as a place for people to step away from daily routines and connect with nature.
The area is easily accessible via Ruggles Road and has parking available near the main trailheads. Visitors should wear suitable shoes for walking and bring water if planning to hike for an extended time.
A sand dune offers broad views across Lake Michigan and is a popular spot for photographs and fresh air. The area also draws boat visitors who anchor offshore and spend time swimming or relaxing on the beach.
