O'Hara Student Center, Academic support center in Oakland, Pittsburgh, United States.
The O'Hara Student Center is an academic support facility at the University of Pittsburgh housed in a three-story Romanesque Revival building containing 35,000 square feet of space. The facility offers writing workshops, mathematics tutoring, and areas for student organizations spread across its three floors.
The building opened in 1913 as the Concordia Club, a social organization for German Jewish residents in the area. The University of Pittsburgh acquired the property in 2009 and converted it into a center for student support.
The center keeps its original oak-paneled rooms and historical chandeliers as students gather here for academic help and group activities. This blend of old architectural elements with modern student life shapes how the space feels today.
Writing assistance and mathematics tutoring are available during regular university hours in dedicated spaces on all three floors. Visitors should know the facility is primarily designed for students and sees the most activity during the academic semester.
The second floor houses a ballroom that seats 450 people and appeared in the 2009 film Sorority Row. This grand hall is one of the less noticed features many visitors overlook when exploring the building.
