Paseo Tablado La Guancha, Waterfront amusement park in La Guancha sector of Ponce, Puerto Rico
Paseo Tablado La Guancha is a waterfront recreation area in Ponce's La Guancha neighborhood, with restaurants, a marina, and an observation tower facing Cardona Island and its lighthouse. A wooden boardwalk runs along the Caribbean Sea, giving visitors a clear view of the water and the surrounding area.
The complex was built on the initiative of then-mayor Rafael Cordero Santiago and opened in June 1998. It turned a previously unused stretch of coastline into a public gathering space for the city.
Local vendors sell traditional Puerto Rican snacks like bacalaitos and empanadillas from small kiosks along the boardwalk, and on weekends salsa music carries across the water. The spot draws families from Ponce who come to spend an evening by the sea.
At the marina, visitors can rent pedal boats or kayaks, or join boat trips to nearby islands. The site has ample parking and is easy to reach by car from the center of Ponce.
Alongside the leisure boats, the dock is also a daily mooring point for local fishing boats that come and go at dawn and dusk. This fishing activity runs alongside the tourism side and gives the place its own rhythm.
