La Guancha

La Guancha is a recreational complex along Ponce's coast with a boardwalk extending beside the Caribbean Sea and multiple observation points. The site includes several restaurants and bars distributed across the waterfront, each offering views over the water.

The site was founded in 1998, marking a new chapter for recreation in southern Puerto Rico. The development transformed an unused coastal area into a lively public space for the community.

The waterfront brings together locals for meals, strolls, and music, with cooks preparing traditional Puerto Rican dishes in open-air settings. It functions as a social hub where families and friends gather to spend time and connect with the sea.

The site is accessible to visitors during daytime hours and has parking and public facilities like restrooms at several points. The best times to visit are early morning or late afternoon when it is less crowded and easier to find space.

Visitors can buy seeds to feed the many pelicans and seabirds that appear year-round along the shore. This daily interaction with wildlife becomes one of the most memorable experiences for people visiting the spot.
