Purinton House

Purinton House is a neoclassical residence featuring a broad wraparound porch supported by Ionic columns and topped with a balustraded deck. The 2.5-story brick structure includes a widow's walk and combines elements of both Classical and Colonial Revival styles.

The residence was built in the early 1900s and served as the official home for university presidents through the mid-20th century. A pivotal moment arrived in 1911 when a national political figure delivered an important speech from its front porch.

The residence hosted important gatherings and speeches that shaped local history and brought national attention to the town. Its front porch became a stage for significant moments that residents still remember today.
