The Rockford Morning Star Building features Classical Revival architecture with terra cotta exterior walls divided by pilasters with ornate capitals at 127 N. Wyman Street.
Constructed in 1927-1928 by architects Clausen, Kruse & Klein, the building served as headquarters for the Rockford Morning Star newspaper until 1930.
The structure incorporates Art Deco and Egyptian design elements near its entrance, featuring decorative panels with chevron patterns and lotus bud motifs.
The building received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1999 and contributes to the West Downtown Rockford Historic District since 2007.
Pioneer Life Insurance Company purchased the building in 1946 and maintained operations there until relocating to Schaumburg in 1993.
