Burpee Museum of Natural History, Natural history museum in downtown Rockford, Illinois, US.
The museum spans four buildings along Rock River, containing exhibits about dinosaurs, prehistoric ecosystems, and regional natural history specimens.
Established in 1941 as a Works Progress Administration project, the museum opened its doors to the public in May 1942.
The First People exhibit presents Native American heritage through full-sized dwellings and archaeological collections from North American indigenous communities.
Located at 737 North Main Street, the museum operates Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM with admission fees of $10 for adults.
Jane, a juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton discovered in Montana, measures 21 feet in length and represents one of the most complete specimens.
