Rockhurst High School, high school in Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Rockhurst High School is a private boys school in Kansas City, Missouri offering courses in English, math, science, theology, languages, arts, and computer skills. The school features over 60 clubs and a strong athletic program with teams competing in basketball, football, soccer, and lacrosse.
The school was founded in 1910 and began classes in 1914 as part of the Jesuit community. After sharing campus space with a college initially, it moved to its own campus on State Line Road in 1962.
The name comes from rocks on the grounds that resembled those at Stonyhurst College in England. The school today maintains strong community traditions, including its blue and white colors and fight song, which connect current students with decades of alumni pride.
The school operates with structured hours beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding around 3 p.m., giving visitors a sense of the daily rhythm. The campus includes a large chapel near the main building and a modern Learning Commons where students gather to study and collaborate.
Notable alumni include Oscar-winning actor Spencer Tracy and television star Jason Sudeikis. The school was also the alma mater of Tim Kaine, who ran as the vice-presidential candidate in 2016.
