Ruhle Road Stone Arch Bridge, Stone arch bridge in Malta, United States
The Ruhle Road Stone Arch Bridge was a stone arch bridge located in Malta, New York, spanning a creek in the rural area of Saratoga County. The structure featured a curved arch design that carried road traffic across Ballston Creek.
Built in 1873 under architect Elbin Miller's direction, this bridge exemplified nineteenth-century stone arch engineering in rural New York. The structure stood for over 120 years before collapsing in 1993 and being replaced by a metal bridge.
The bridge earned recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, reflecting the architectural practices and transportation infrastructure of rural New York.
The site is located in a rural area of Saratoga County and is best reached by car. Since the original bridge no longer stands, visitors can only view the area where the structure once crossed the creek.
The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 but was later removed from the register in 2004. This unusual delisting marked the conclusion of its official historical recognition.
