Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, Open-air theatre in Central Waterfront, Camden, United States.
Freedom Mortgage Pavilion is an open-air venue on the Delaware River waterfront in Camden opposite Philadelphia. The structure consists of a covered seating section with fixed rows and a lawn area behind the main section, built over sloped earthworks.
The venue opened in June 1995 and initially carried the name of a video rental company and a music corporation. Several corporations have since acquired naming rights, so the designation has changed over time.
The name comes from a mortgage company based in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, which purchased the naming rights. The stage faces the river and allows open views of the opposite city with its towers and illuminated bridge during evening concerts.
Access to the lawn area follows ramps and paths that wind around the covered rows, while the main section is directly reachable from the entrance. Evening shows usually begin after sunset, and the venue operates fully during warmer months.
The stage structure can be enclosed with walls and a roof when needed, allowing the venue to operate as a closed space in winter. This transformation sharply reduces the number of seats and creates a weatherproof indoor area for smaller concerts and events.
