Adventure Aquarium, Public aquarium in Camden, United States
Adventure Aquarium is a public aquarium in Camden, New Jersey, displaying over 15,000 aquatic animals in tanks holding more than 2 million gallons (7.5 million liters) of water. The building is divided into several themed zones with tunnels, open tanks, and interactive stations.
The building opened its doors in 1992, replacing an older oceanarium at the same location. Over the following years, the facility expanded several times to create space for new tanks and species.
The building brings together groups and families who gather around touch pools to observe rays and sharks up close. Staff members explain animal behavior and answer questions about underwater life.
The entrance sits at 1 Riverside Drive right along the Delaware River waterfront. The building opens almost every day of the year and offers self-guided walks through all exhibition areas.
The building houses the largest shark collection in the northeastern United States, including several species in one large tank. A suspension bridge carries visitors directly over this tank, offering a view of the animals from above.
