Thunderation

Thunderation is a steel roller coaster at Silver Dollar City featuring roughly 3,000 feet of track and an 81-foot climb section. The ride twists through several turns as it moves across the amusement park landscape with rapid descents.

The coaster was designed and built by Arrow Dynamics, opening on April 10, 1993 at Silver Dollar City. It was created as part of the park's growth to attract riders seeking more thrilling experiences.

The name and design of the roller coaster connect to the mining heritage of the Ozarks region through its locomotive-styled front cars.

Solo riders must be at least 48 inches tall, while younger children aged 42 inches or taller can ride with a supervising adult. Secure any loose items and review safety instructions provided by staff before boarding.

Unlike most roller coasters, the lift hill is positioned near the end of the track rather than at the start. This unusual placement creates an unexpected thrill when riders encounter the climb partway through their ride.
