Thunderation, Steel roller coaster in Silver Dollar City, United States.
Thunderation is a steel roller coaster at Silver Dollar City, an amusement park in Branson, Missouri, with around 3,000 feet (900 m) of track and an 81-foot (25 m) lift section. The ride passes through tight turns and fast drops as it winds through the park's terrain.
The coaster was designed by Arrow Dynamics and opened on April 10, 1993, at Silver Dollar City. It was built during a period when the park was expanding its offer for riders looking for more intense experiences.
The name and the locomotive-styled front cars connect the ride to the mining past of the Ozarks region. This detail fits naturally into Silver Dollar City, which is built around the theme of an 1880s mining town.
Solo riders need to be at least 48 inches (122 cm) tall, and children between 42 and 48 inches (107 to 122 cm) can ride with a supervising adult. Secure loose items before boarding, as the ride moves quickly through several sharp turns.
On most roller coasters, the big lift hill comes at the very start of the ride, but on this one it appears near the end of the track. Riders who do not know this are caught off guard when the climb begins well into the ride.
