Time Traveler, Spinning roller coaster in Silver Dollar City, Missouri
Time Traveler is a spinning steel roller coaster at Silver Dollar City that delivers a vertical 90-degree drop, three inversions, and two magnetic launch sections along a 920-meter track. The cars rotate during the ride, adding an unpredictable dimension to the experience.
The ride opened in March 2018 after Silver Dollar City and Mack Rides spent four years developing it. It was the first spinning roller coaster with a 90-degree drop and multiple inversions when it debuted.
The narrative centers on Charles Henry, a clockmaker who builds a time-traveling machine inspired by Jules Verne's scientific novels. Visitors experience this storyline through themed sections along the ride, which are integrated into the park's surroundings.
Riders must be at least 51 inches (130 centimeters) tall, and operations pause when temperatures drop below 41 degrees Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius). Wait times tend to be longer on weekends and during summer holidays.
The cars use an eddy current brake system under each vehicle to control rotation speed throughout the journey. This system operates without mechanical contact and adjusts automatically to the motion of the track.
