Tibbetts Brook Park, Urban park in Lincoln Park neighborhood, Yonkers, United States.
Tibbetts Brook Park is a large green space in Yonkers with miles of walking trails, sports facilities, and swimming areas throughout. Two artificial lakes created by Tibbetts Brook form the centerpiece of the landscape.
It opened in 1927 as one of the earliest planned recreational areas in Westchester County following environmental restoration. The site had been used as a dumping ground before transformation into its current form.
The location holds deep meaning for local communities as a green space dedicated to remembering indigenous heritage and early colonial conflicts. It serves as a gathering place where residents connect with the land's complex past through recreation.
The grounds offer activities throughout the year including fishing, picnic areas, and playgrounds for families of all ages. Visitors can easily find spots suited to their interests across the spacious layout.
An original water aqueduct from the 1800s runs through the park grounds and can be traced along the landscape. This engineering structure once transported water across great distances to serve a distant city.
