The Grove, Historic house in Cold Spring, United States
The Grove stands as a two-and-a-half-story brick structure with load-bearing stone walls, featuring arched windows and an Italian-villa architectural design.
Built in 1795, The Grove served as the estate of Frederick Lente, a surgeon at the West Point Foundry who later established the American Academy of Medicine.
The property represents the architectural evolution of New York State through its Italianate style, designed by prominent architect Richard Upjohn.
The house sits on a one-acre lot with views of the Hudson River, while mature trees create natural boundaries around the property.
After functioning as a convent for Franciscan Sisters until 1977, the mansion underwent renovations to restore its original hipped roof design.
