The Inn at Little Washington, Three Michelin star restaurant in Washington, Virginia

The Inn at Little Washington is a three-star restaurant in a former garage in Virginia that combines French cooking techniques with ingredients from local farms and its own grounds. The dishes are carefully composed and reflect a thoughtful culinary approach that continues to evolve.

Founder Patrick O'Connell opened the restaurant in 1978 within a former garage and gradually transformed it into a culinary destination of international standing. The evolution from a simple country inn to one of the world's most respected restaurants spans decades of craft and refinement.

The dining experience incorporates theatrical elements, including a dedicated cheese presentation service led by a certified professional using a cow-shaped cart.

Guests should book well in advance as the restaurant fills quickly. Two different tasting menus are available, and wine pairings can be added from a large selection.

The restaurant employs two full-time farmers and five gardeners who manage the property and grow vegetables, herbs, honey from beehives, and other ingredients in greenhouses. This agricultural infrastructure is rare for a restaurant of its caliber and shows the scale of effort behind sourcing fresh ingredients.
