United Methodist Church and Parsonage
United Methodist Church and Parsonage, Carpenter Gothic church in Mount Kisco, United States.
The United Methodist Church is a wooden structure built in Carpenter Gothic style with a steep roof, vertical board siding, and multiple pointed windows on East Main Street. The Victorian-style parsonage sits nearby as part of the same religious complex.
The building was constructed in 1868 by Edward Dauchey following designs by J. King, and later expanded with additional rooms. The steeple was modified in 1980 to create a shorter and more contemporary appearance.
The congregation gathers here for regular worship and community events that connect residents of the town. The wooden building with its pointed windows creates the simple, welcoming style that Methodist churches offered to local families.
The church sits at the corner of East Main Street and Smith Avenue on a 2-acre property that is easy to find. Different sections of the building can be explored during a visit, giving a complete sense of the complex.
The front has three pointed covered entrances that give the building a striking and unusual appearance. These tiered openings are a distinctive feature rarely seen on churches of this period.
