Ware Town Hall, Town hall in Ware, Massachusetts, US
Ware Town Hall is a red brick administrative building with sandstone trim, featuring a tall hip roof and a prominent tower on one side. The structure houses municipal offices on the lower level and theater spaces above.
The building was constructed in 1885 by architects Hartwell and Richardson, replacing an earlier town hall destroyed by fire in 1860. It represents the town's rebuild after that disaster.
The main floor contains a theater where residents gather for performances, meetings, and community discussions throughout the year. This space serves as the heart of local public life.
Municipal offices are located on the lower level and open to visitors during standard business hours. Check ahead if you need to conduct administrative business at the building.
The building underwent significant expansions in 1904 and 1935, with local architect Thomas Madigan ensuring the additions matched the original style. These extensions show how seamlessly architecture can be integrated over time.
