Wehr Covered Bridge
The Wehr Covered Bridge is a wooden structure built in 1841 that spans Jordan Creek in South Whitehall Township and measures approximately 117 feet (36 meters) long. It features a red exterior, gable roof, and Burr truss construction with three support sections that distribute weight across the span.
The bridge was constructed in 1841 using 19th-century wooden building methods and represents one of the earliest covered bridges in the region. In 2014, it was temporarily closed after an overweight truck incident, which led to weight restrictions being imposed.
Access is straightforward via 2465 Wehr Mill Road in Allentown, with shaded surroundings that make for a pleasant walk. Only lighter vehicles are now permitted, but pedestrians can cross freely and explore the peaceful creek area and vegetation around the bridge.
