Steel Force, Hypercoaster at Dorney Park, Pennsylvania, United States
Steel Force is a hypercoaster at Dorney Park in Pennsylvania, ranking among the longest steel roller coasters in North America. The track reaches a height of around 200 feet and stretches for about 5,600 feet, with trains accelerating to approximately 75 miles per hour (121 kilometers per hour).
The coaster opened on May 22, 1997, and was the tallest and longest steel hypercoaster on the East Coast at the time. Its construction followed a design by Morgan Manufacturing and set new standards for this type of attraction in the region.
The roller coaster maintains a dedicated following among enthusiasts who appreciate its combination of speed, drops, and extended track configuration without inversions.
Visitors must be at least 54 inches (137 centimeters) tall to ride. The loading system allows for fairly quick movement through the queue, as the ride operates multiple trains on the track at once.
The track passes through two tunnels about 120 feet (37 meters) long and through a helix with a rotation of 510 degrees. These elements create moments of darkness and sharp turns at high speed that shape the rhythm of the ride.
