Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Mound

The mound at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is an archaeological feature roughly 86 feet across and about 8 feet high. It sits near the Wright Brothers Memorial and displays how early peoples constructed their structures using stone materials.

The mound was built by the Adena culture that inhabited the region roughly between 500 and 400 BC. It remained a stable marker of their presence in southwestern Ohio across many centuries.
